The Niger State Police Command has arrested one Genesis Yaryok Sunday, for allegedly kidnapping his neighbour’s six-year-old son in Tafa Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, February 7, 2025, said the suspect confessed to abducting the boy with the intention to collect N200,000 ransom from the victim’s mother.
“Fortunately, around 3pm of the same date, the said a missing boy was found at Jere area of Kagarko Local Council Area of Kaduna State and he was taken to the nearest police station within the area. The missing boy was later handed over to Tafa Div of Niger State Police Command.
“In the course of investigation, one Genesis Yaryok Sunday 27yrs of Kafancha, Kaduna State, a neighbour living in the same area in Sabon-wuse was arrested in connection to the incident.
“He confessed that he abducted the boy and took him to Idah, along Kaduna road where he kept the boy. He said that he intended to collect two hundred thousand naira as ransom from the mother of the victim to sort some credits he owed around. He has been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation.”
