IN a disturbing incident that recently came to light, police officers in Lagos State were arrested for extorting ₦1 million from three National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the Surulere area.
The incident unfolded when the corps members were unable to provide a physical copy of their driver’s licenses during a routine stop.
The officers reportedly threatened the corps members with firearms and forced them to a police station, where they were coerced into paying a large sum of money.
The extortion case sparked outrage after it went viral on social media, bringing widespread attention to the misconduct of the police officers involved.
In response to the public outcry, the Lagos State Police Command swiftly arrested the officers and initiated a trial to investigate the matter. The authorities have urged the victims to come forward and testify to ensure that justice is served.
