TO instil discipline among staff of the Unified Local Government Service, Chairman, Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Hon. Dcn. Joseph Otirhue has vowed to step down officers who failed to comply with requirements for the January 2025 promotion exercise.
Otirhue disclosed this while speaking with The Pointer in Asaba, Delta State capital during the first day of the promotion interviews.
He said the Commission will not compromise the rules guiding the conduct of the promotion exercise, as staff were expected to update their certificates to enable them move to a higher level in the service.
He said the decision was as a result of the earlier awareness creation on the exercise, adding that defaulters would have themselves to blame.
Otirhue said that the disqualification of non-compliant officers will serve as a deterrent to others.
He, however, said that those with health challenges who were unable to attend the interview would be given a second chance so as to step up their level in service.
He said as a Commission, he would ensure that staff of the local government service key into the MORE Agenda of the state governor, by replicating peace at the council level.
Otirhue, while speaking commended the infrastructural development that have been extended across the state, adding that it had brought about opportunity for all Deltans to benefit from the dividend of good governance.
He said the laid down example of infrastructural development by the governor had been replicated by many of the local government chairmen, who had also put in place some developmental strides in their various local governments
The Chairman commended the compliance of those present at the interview, which contributed to the successful exercise.
