THE Senator representing Delta North at the National Assembly, Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko, says he is not interested in becoming the governor of the Proposed Anioma State. Nwoko disclosed this during the stakeholders’ summit that took place in Asaba recently.

He said he was concerned about the actualization of the Anioma State and not for the purpose of ruling over the people of Anioma as governor.

He urged sons and daughters of Anioma to see the agitation for the creation of their state as a collective responsibility and be prepared to be part of the success story of the new state.

Speaking on the motive behind the meeting, the Senator said it was aimed at reawakening the consciousness of Anioma people on their desire to be independent.

While addressing the issue of which geo-political zone, the proposed Anioma State would be, Nwoko said all that matters to him was for the Anioma people to have a state of their own.

Nwoko said that immediate past Governor of the state, Senator IfeanyiOkowa, has also supported the creation ofAnioma State, but said it should be in South South.

He revealed that the bill for the creation of the state had passed the first reading and would soon be read the second time, after which a public hearing would be held preparatory to its passage.

Expressing confidence in the assenting of the bill which he sponsored, the Senator said he was confident that President Bola Tinubu would give a nod to it.

While promising to sponsor as many Anioma people as possible to the public hearing to show their support for the new state, he said he would do everything in his power to garner the support of his colleagues for the new state.
