PWDs Allege Neglect In Palliative Distribution

BY PATRICK MGBODO

Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) in Isoko North Local Government Area, have raised a cry of neglect in the distribution of essential palliatives, urging Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to take immediate action on their behalf.

Their plea highlights the daily struggles and injustices faced by some of the most vulnerable members of society, who now find themselves further marginalized in a time of need.  In a letter addressed to the Governor and signed by Isoko North Chapter Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disability (JONAPWD), Comrade Simeon Ikuta, the group alleged marginalization in the palliatives distribution.

According to the statement, ‘’We write to draw the attention of the governor to the ongoing distribution of the second round of palliatives in which no attention has been given to us by the coordinators of the distribution.

‘’We wish to state categorically here that we just heard with our ears that palliative distribution was going on at the first instance but before we knew it, it was all over. This is the second time.

‘’Sir, we are as good as every other citizen in the state. In the last governorship election, we hired Keke to mobilise most of our members, most of whom were in critical conditions to their various units to cast their votes and they did that successfully. Hence, your victory.

‘’But in the distribution of palliative, we are not considered by your coordinator. What have we done wrong? Now that the distribution is still ongoing, we call for your intervention because we know that you are a listening governor on the serious plight of persons living with disability’’ they said.
