Residents Panic Over Renewed Cult Killings

Residents of Kwale, headquarters of Ndokwa West Local Government Area  of Delta State said they are living in fear and apprehension as cult-related killings resumed in the town.

Recent broad daylight shootings by the rival groups have claimed the lives of three individuals, leaving many others wounded and receiving treatment at undisclosed hospitals and traditional medicine homes for bullet wounds.

The Pointer investigation reveals that the recent killings are a result of retaliatory vengeance between rival cult groups, seeking revenge for their lost members.

Despite efforts by notable individuals, groups, and authorities, including the Ndokwa West Local Government Council and security operatives, the violence has continued unabated. This has led to a breakdown in socio-economic activities and commercial operations in the town, particularly affecting commercial motorcyclists, known as Okada riders.

Beyond the threat to lives, the chaotic situation has led to a self-imposed curfew, with residents living in constant fear.

Some of the residents expressed concern over the senseless loss of young lives and urged the government to intervene with lasting solutions.

Meanwhile, a reliable source revealed that the intervention of the member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency of Delta State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi had temporarily halted the killings, but the recent escalation has plunged the town into uncertainty, with no end in sight to the cult violence.
