RETECH Foundation has awarded scholarships to 10 outstanding students in- Senior Secondary School (SS1) across public secondary schools in Benin City. The beneficiaries received their cheques at a presentation ceremony held at the Ministry of Education, Benin City.
The 10 recipients, now in Senior Second- ary School 2 (SSS2), in- clude Osaro Lifted (St. Maria Goretti Grammar School), Ehisuoria Eb- enezer (Eyean Secondary School), Lois Amadi (Idia College), Omorogbe Uyi- osa (Edo Boys), and Peace Osawonamen (Itohan Girls Grammar School).
Others are Alvana Aig- bevboile (Iyekogba Secondary School), Obeze Joshua (Ihogbe College), Ononoiona Barachel (Edo College), Maranatha Efe Ohonba (Imaguero College), and Omofeye Precious (Asoro Grammar School).
In the foundation’s recent newsletter, Founder and Chairman, Engr. Ronye Egborge, announced that each beneficiary will receive ₦50,000 per year until the completion of their secondary education, provided they maintain academic excellence.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries through sign language, Obeze Joshua, a special needs student from Ihogbe College, expressed his gratitude: “I’m very surprised; this is the first time I have received such an award. I promise to do better, and I know my fellow students will also strive for excellence.”
The students extended special appreciation to their trustee, Dr. Ade Adetosoye, PhD, MPH, for sponsoring the scholarships in Edo State, as well as to the Commissioner for Education and the Chairman and Board Members of the State’s Secondary Education Board for their support in making the initiative a reality.
