Riverine Communities To Be Ever Grateful To Oborevwori –IYC Spokesman

By Ifeanyi Omenogor

THE spokesman of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Ambassador Binebai Yerin Princewill, has said that riverine communities in Delta State will continue to be grateful to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for creating the Directorate of Riverine Infrastructural Development.

He made the remarks when he received the Commissioner for Directorate of Riverine Infrastructural Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark at his office in Warri.

He said riverine communities have been neglected for so long, irrespective of the fact that the crude oil being enjoyed in the country comes from the areas, adding that the creation of the Directorate of Riverine Infrastructural Development was the best thing that happened to the riverine communities.

Ambassador Binebai said creating the Directorate was a pointer that Governor Oborevwori has the interest of Riverine Communities and the entire state at heart, adding that the gesture was highly commendable.

The IYC spokesman appealed to the State Governor to inject enough funds into the Directorate to enable him actualize his MORE agenda in the riverine communities.

While congratulating Chief Ebikeme Clark for his appointment as pioneer commissioner in the Directorate, he said Chief Clark has the onerous task of working hard to ensure that proper development comes to the localities.

He said Chief Clark was equal to the task, describing him as a square peg in a square hole, the pride of his father, Chief E. k Clark and the Ijaw nation at large.

The Honourable Commissioner in his brief response, said he was in Warri to introduce the Directorate to Ijaw Youths Council, commending the state Governor for his appointment.

Chief Ebikeme said he would work hard to ensure massive development of the riverine areas and equally to justify the confidence reposed on him

He called on Youths of Ijaw nation to be patient with the state government, protect projects that would be cited in their communities, corporate with contractors, adding that they should continue to support Governor Oborevwori and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led administration, for the purpose of development.
