Rivers State Civil Servants Receive N85,000 Minimum Wage

RIVERS State civil servants have begun receiving the N85,000 minimum wage promised by Governor Siminalayi Fubara in October. This development has sparked jubilation among civil servants, who have been praising and singing the governor’s name in their various sectors.

The N85,000 minimum wage is higher than the N70,000 approved nationally by President Bola Tinubu in July. According to Chukwuka Osunna, State Chairman of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, “The Governor has fulfilled his promise… today I can tell you that he has paid the new minimum wage of N85,000 and workers are happy in the State”.

Civil servants have expressed their joy and gratitude to the governor. Mrs Victoria Amadi a government school teacher said, “I am so happy that the promise has been fulfilled. God bless the governor.”  Mr. James Wobo  also expressed his joy, saying, “Governor Siminalayi really has the heart of the people… we are happy with this”.

This has shown Rivers State governor’s efforts to improve the welfare of its civil servants. With the payment of the N85,000 minimum wage.  It has demonstrated its commitment to providing a better life for its workers.
