Sanitation: Many Parts Of Asaba Wearing New Look

MANY parts of Asaba, the capital of Delta State, are now wearing news looks following the intensified efforts of the Board, Management and Staff of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) to rid the city of refuse and enhance it’s esthetics.

The Agency, under the watch of the Director General (DG), Chief Patrick Ukah, throughout last fully mobilized its officers to different parts of the city to maintain the gardens located in various parts of Asaba and clean up the environment.

The gardens cleared and maintained are at Temple Clinic Junction, Infant Jesus Junction, opposite Government House, FMC, Grand Hotel and Abraka.

General works were also carried out at the foot of Inter Bau Bridge, Akpu Junction and its environ, High Court Road and Cenotaph area, Traffic Light Roundabout and Maryam Babangida Way median.

Chief Ukah, while calling on residents to clean their premises regularly and stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse, revealed that the Agency is carrying out these activities through its sweepers and labourers who are equally desilting the drains.

The DG reminded residents to stop the habits of dumping their wastes into drainages, warning that those who do so are at the mercy of flooding this raining season as the flow of flood will be hindered. Chief Ukah reiterated that officers of the Agency have been given the marching order to apprehend all sanitation offenders and arraign them before the Mobile Courts for appropriate sanctions. The clean-up exercise in other parts of the capital territory continues this week.
