Director-General of Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, has called on expectant mothers to take full advantage of government-owned healthcare facilities for their maternity care for free.
He said this when the commission trained Primary Health Care (PHC)professionals at the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba, Delta State.
Akpoveta emphasized the need for pregnant women to enrol in the state’s health insurance scheme, just as he urged pregnant women to ensure they visit government hospitals with their enrolment cards to access free and quality healthcare services.
He noted that the Equity plan is designed to provide efficient medical care throughout their pregnancy, ensuring the health and well-being of both mothers and unborn babies.
“This initiative guarantees that every expectant mother receives the necessary antenatal care from the very beginning of their pregnancy to delivery,” Akpoveta said.
While addressing medical officials, Akpoveta noted that the health insurance scheme will continue to prioritize affordable and accessible healthcare for all residents, aiming to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in the state.
The highlight of the event was the training of PHC staff on delivering quality healthcare support to Deltans, along with the introduction of their new policy tariff.
