THE survival of the PDP is the survival of Democracy, it is the survival of our freedom to choose as guaranteed in the 1999 constitution, it is fresh breath that can lead to fertilization of ideas, debates as assured in Democracy, it lead to growth in politics, economy, health for all, food and shelter as against one party rule with all its pitfalls, we cannot wait to resuscitate the PDP because it is in the best interest of Nigerians and unknowingly the ruling APC that are against its survival, without freedom to associate as guaranteed by the constitution, Democracy cannot strive. The freedom of thought and association guaranteed in the 1999 constitution is the hallmark of what Democracy represents, Nigeria is in dire need of political revolution that will urgently address needs of Nigerians, we are an oil producing nation yet our Refineries in Kaduna, Warri and Port- Harcourt are dead and not functional yet state funds are mobilized to pay NNPC without doing nothing, we sell crude oil in exchange for petroleum products and if we may ask what type of voodoo political economy are we practicing? What have stopped our Refineries from functioning despite promises and huge resources sunk into them if not corruption?
Why is it that the Nigerian Ports Authority Ports (NPA) in Warri, Koko, Burutu, Port-Harcourt, Sapele and Calabar are not functioning and only Lagos Port is, despite the economic revival these ports would bring economically to the nation? Why is it that the Delta Steel Aladja and the Ajaokuta steel are all merely lip service despite their technology, advancement to the development of Nigeria if it attain its full potential? The unemployment rate in the country since 1999 has encouraged the “Japa” syndrome as a result of abject poverty, hunting the citizens even in the midst of opportunities, we merely pay lip service to fighting corruption. Nigerians are living under dire economic situation and political strangulation under the ruling APC, their determination to create a one party state is a threat to our freedoms and way of life.
The APC is ruling Nigerians in falsehood, deceit, and propaganda, the nation is at a break presently and the only way is to put on our thinking caps to organize and bring forth solutions before the next elections, doing anything less is committing political hara-kiri which is not a good idea. Our problems are self-inflicted because we have great opportunities to revive the economy in the Agricultural sector, animal husbandry, cash crops, fisheries with our terrain but we are not doing that, we have great opportunities in the oil sector if we revive our refinery and diversify to tap our gas which we flare and use its potentials for domestic consumption and other uses but the oil sector is saturated in compulsion and voodoo politics of oil subsidy, we have great potentials that will turn around the nation economically and politically and all that is needed is a leadership with a clear vision but that vision would be elusive as far as there is no political vision in as much as the political vehicle is not available and this is what is happening.
to be continued….
ing todin crisis perpetuated by the APC ruling government to remain in power at all cost, we would continue to lament our political, social and economic woes without us finding a political vehicle to bail us out and thus is the aim of the ruling APC using moles, bats and political infidels to destabilize the party, today the PDP is in crisis and so are virtually all credible political parties in the country, how can we uproot the behemoth APC that strives in planting crisis on opposition parties to divide them and the well-established rigging of elections, if we don’t come together? Without solidarity we cannot organize and without organization the electorates will be fragmentized politically and socially. Those within the PDP who cherish the party and understand the problem that the Nigerian people are passing through under the ruling APC must come together with other like minds outside the PDP to find an immediate solution before the next presidential elections, personal interest should go for collective interest of Nigerians who are helpless, disenfranchised, suffering economic and political misdirection under the clueless APC government.
States Have No Justification Not To Pay New Minimum Wage – NECA DG
The Director General of Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, Adewale Oyerinde, has said that all the 36 states of the federation have no justification for not paying the new minimum wage.
The state governments, Oyerinde explained, have received enough support from the Federal Government to be able to implement the N70,000 minimum wage signed into law in July 2024.
After President Bola Tinubu assented to the bill, many state governments pledged to implement it, while others raised concerns about their financial capacity.
Appearing on Arise TV programme, ‘The Morning Show’ on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Oyerinde dispelled claims that some states may not have funds to pay the minimum wage, stressing that the new wage structure has come to stay.
He stressed that funds should not be an excuse for any state because the Federal Government has increased their allocations.
According to him, allocations to state governments have increased proportionately.
“With a little fiscal discipline, no state should complain that they can’t pay N70,000 as approved by the President,” he observed.
Oyerinde added that if state governors refuse to pay the new minimum wage, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, would have to change their strategy for engagement to get them to pay.
