THE Chairman of Warri North Local Government, Hon. Festus Ashima has inaugurated eight ad hoc committees tasked with enhancing governance and delivering government policies directly to the people.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Council Secretariat in Koko, the headquarters of the local government.
In his address to the appointees, Hon. Ashima urged them to approach their duties with diligence, care, and compassion, referring to them as the government’s new “foot soldiers” and urged them to take government policies and programmes to the doorsteps of the people in the local government.
“Your appointments are a reward for your hard work and loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), particularly during the recent elections where our party achieved remarkable victories,” Hon. Ashima stated.
He congratulated and assured the appointees of brighter opportunities for loyal party members, both within the local government and across the state.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, the Chairman called on party members to begin mobilizing support for the PDP, highlighting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s developmental agenda.
He declared that keeping Warri North firmly aligned with Governor Oborevwori’s vision was a major project for his administration, aimed at fostering trust in the PDP as the party capable of rescuing the nation.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Chairman, of the Education Committee, Felix Aminoma, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, pledging that, all members would work within their capacity to justify the confidence reposed in them by the council and the party.
Among the officials present at the event were Vice Chairman Hon. (Mrs) Florence Bisina, Secretary to the Local Government Council Mr Felix Ebimene Adanse, Head of Personnel Management Comrade John E. Ofofo, and other top council staff, alongside political leaders and well-wishers of the appointees.
The eight committees inaugurated include those for Health, Community Relations, Information and Publicity, Waterways, Security, Revenue, Motor Parks, and Education. Each committee is expected to drive specific initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in the local government area.
The ceremony concluded with group photographs featuring the council chairman, appointees, and key officials.
