TWO persons met their untimely deaths on Tuesday afternoon in Mbiri, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State by persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
The incident occurred along the farm road in Idumu- Ikeze Quarters and Mbiri Farm Settlement Road in Mbiri
One of the victims, simply identified as Ikenna from Ikeze Quarters in the area, was said to have gone to check his cassava farm when he was murdered by the suspected herdsmen.
While the other victim, who was said to be a native of Benue State was said to have come to work as a labourer in the farm settlement before he was killed. Our correspondent further gathered that the incident later resulted to breakdown of order in the area as many youths from Mbiri went to the Hausa community living in Mbiri/Umunede Road and destroyed many property including four motorcycles and other property in their make shift houses.
Some members of Mbiri youths body, who could no longer tolerate the menace and threat to life and property in the community as result of fear of being attacked and kidnapped by the herdsmen decided to expose their grievances by acting lawlessly.
However, the quick intervention of Army, the police and other security agents helped to prevent the situation from resulting to total breakdown of law and other in the area.
