BY IFEANYI OMENOGOR

THE Chairman of Nigeria Cassava Growers Association, Delta State chapter, Comrade Christopher Aghunor has said Nigerians will have enough food on their tables if they engage in farming especially now that Federal and State governments were on the same page with farmers on the issue of food security.

He started this in a chat with newsmen at his office in Asaba.

The cordial relationship existing between state, Federal Government and farmers according to him was very healthy for food security in the state and the nation at large.

Comrade Aghunor said the State and Federal governments were really particular in improving agriculture in the state and country in general, adding that it was a welcome development.

The cassava association chairman said the government recently distributed maize to fish farmers, poultry farmers, pig farmers and that currently the government gave out fertilizers to crop farmers, describing the gesture as great.

He enumerated some of the challenges facing farmers to include; land preparation, farm equipment like; tractors, bulldozer to open up more farms, Fulani herdsmen attacks among others, calling on farmers to continue to cluster to protect their farms from the destruction of herdsmen.

Aghunor lauded the state Governor, Rt . Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Secretary to the State Government and the Commissioner for Agriculture for their continuous support to farmers in the state.
