Traders Decry Slow Pace Of Work At Ogbeogonogo Storm Drainage Project

By Ekelaka Marvis

TRADERS in the Ogbeogonogo market have complained about the slow pace of construction of the storm drainage channel being undertaken in the market.

One of the traders, Mr. Ezenwa Joseph, who spoke with The Pointer,  lamented the challenges they were faced because of the slow performance by the engineers.

Ezenwa said although the government was trying to develop the roads compared to last year, the construction was affecting all the traders in the market.

According to him, it had also affected wheelbarrow pushers who help them move customers’ goods from point of purchase to where they can offload to their various destination.

The restriction, he said, was greatly affecting their businesses as their customers would prefer to buy goods from places that will be convenient to them.

He urged the engineers to increase the workforce and ensure that they take the job serious to complete it before next year.

Another person, who chose to be addressed as Mr. Sanity, expressed gratitude to the state government for the construction and development in the state.

He, however, spoke of how slow the engineers were in discharging their duties and urged them to increase their pace because it was affecting the traders.

According to him, the customers do not have access to their shops because the road is blocked, which poses a huge challenge as it was making business very slow.

He added that they should make provision for another road channel to be open, for easier access for the customers to get to the traders.
