…Assures Transparent Selection Process
THE Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the Recruitment Awareness Committee, Barr. ThankGod Trakiriowei, has urged Delta youths to take advantage of the ongoing 88th Army Regular Recruitment in Nigeria.
He made this appeal during a meeting with the Council of Traditional Rulers in the state, requesting their support in encouraging their subjects to participate in the recruitment process, which he described as a valuable opportunity for youth to secure a better future.
Barr. Trakiriowei emphasized that Delta State has been marginalized for too long, and it is time for the youth to benefit from such opportunities. He assured that the selection process would be transparent, favoring those who meet the required criteria.
The Commissioner also encouraged the youths to seize this opportunity for their long-term benefit, commending the state government for its commitment to youth development. He praised the Governor as a “youth-friendly” leader who is keen on the progress of Deltans in all aspects of life.
Similarly, the Vice Chairman of the Committee, who is also the Local Government Chairman for Oshimili-North, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, acknowledged the Governor’s dedication to youth advancement and development in Delta State.
He affirmed that the committee has worked hard to ensure that the recruitment process remained transparent and successful, promising that only qualified candidates would be shortlisted.
Hon. Esewezie explained that the purpose of the meeting with traditional rulers was to inform them about the mobilization of youths for participation in the recruitment process.
Speaking to the press, Director-General of the Delta State Orientation Bureau and member of the Awareness Committee, Barr. Fred Oghenesivbe, called on traditional rulers, local government chairmen, and the media to help spread the word about the ongoing Army recruitment. Highlighting that 137 Deltans were recruited in the last exercise, and the 170 slots allocated for this new recruitment would be fully utilized.
He encouraged eligible youths to visit the registration website (recruitment.army.mil.ng) to apply, stating that it would help reduce unemployment in the state.
At the event, the Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers (DSCTR), the Orodje of Okpe, HRM Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Felix Mujakperuo, represented by the 1st Vice Chairman, HRM Pere Luke Kalanama VIII, the Pere of Akugbene-Mein, commended the committee for their efforts in ensuring the inclusion of Deltans in the recruitment process.
However, the Orodje expressed concerns about the recruitment process, advising that it should not be politicized. He urged that only those who are qualified and capable should be considered for the job.
“It would be disappointing if qualified applicants who passed the interview are denied the opportunity. I urge you to ensure that every applicant from Delta who meets the criteria gets the job,” he said.
