Ugolo Community Leader Seeks Oborevwori, Police Intervention

Ugolo community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State has been engulfed with crises which have led to several persons sustaining injuries, following an attack launched on the victims over what was described as an attempt to topple the administration of the community.

Consequently, the President General of Ugolo Community appealed to the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the Commissioner of Police, the Department of State Security (DSS) and others to intervene.

According to the Ugolo President General, those he alleged to have launched the attack on the victims are Mr Edafe Onokpite, Mr Efewu Itigha, Akpesiri Itigha, Paul Iboyitete (Ejime), and Mr Tefe Onokpite whom he said are in police custody.

The President General, Benjamin Agbude and the Youth Secretary, Mr Israel Akintia said the alleged persons had launched the attack on the Ugolo community executives in an attempt to take power from those in leadership which led to many sustaining several injuries.

Agbude and Akintia mentioned those who had sustained injuries as Mr Ariayire Michael, Mr Solomon Uba, Precious Emakpor and others who are still receiving treatments at private hospitals.

“The Ugolo leaders had said it was alarming that an individual holding public office, such as that of Special Assistant to the Governor could be involved in this kind of incident, using sophisticated weapons and other firearms to engage their victims in such a violent manner.

“We are calling on the Delta State Government to take decisive action in addressing this situation and ensure that those behind the attack are investigated and are held accountable for their actions.

‘’We further appeal to the state government to dispossess the firearms and take proper action for the community to be safe for all, especially with the 2027 general elections around the corner.

“We are still very sure they are still after the life of some of the youth leaders, hence we are calling on the government, Commissioner of Police, Department of State Security and other security agents to intervene as a matter of urgency before it will be out of hand.”
