Ujevwu Community Appeals For Intervention

PEOPLE of Ujevwu community in Udu local government area, Delta State have appealed to the state Governor, Rt.  Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other stakeholders to assist in developing the education infrastructure  in the community.

The Secretary-General of the community, Mr Ovuomarhoma Ejovwo, who made the appeal while speaking with newsmen, said that since he was made Chairman of the Education Committee in the community, he had been campaigning for government and stakeholders support to grow the educational sector in the area.

According to Mr. Ejovwo, the community createed an education committee task force. to ensure that parents send their children and wards to school.

”I can tell you that the Ujevwu Education Committee task force is in full operation to combat the issue of lateness to school, children’s indiscipline in school. Though in some cases our personnel do receive embarrassment from mothers who support the excesses of their children.

“Since my assumption as the chairman, we have created a total of 84 scholarships across primary and secondary schools, and we have also helped in enrolling more than 36 pupils in the last cognitive placement examination, BECE.

“We cannot do much without the support of stakeholders and we are using this opportunity to plead for more support from our amiable governor Rt.  Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to assist our programs, because his continuous support for infrastructural development, quality healthcare, agriculture, education and other key sectors of the state economy through the ongoing implementation of his MORE Agenda is an indication that he will support the mandate of Ujevwu Education Committee to make effective progress. he said

While appealing to other sons and daughters of Udu to support the education sector of the community, he noted that stakeholders and philanthropists as the Commissioner of Oil and Gas, Hon. Chief Peter Uviejitobor; the Chairman, Udu Local Government, Hon. Chief Vincent Oyibode; the Commissioner in Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (DESOPADEC), Hon Oghenekaro Goru; SA to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Government Affairs, Hon. Chief Jute Brown, etc. have been supporting the education sector in Ujevwu community.
