DELTA State Chairman of the Union of Tipper and Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTQEN), Chukwudumebi Eluaka has inaugurated a 28-man executive member of both Tipper and Quarry in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Chairman, Comrade Chukwudumebi Eluaka disclosed during the inauguration and swearing-in held at Oteri-Ughelli that UTQEN is an affiliate of Trade Union Congress (TUC) and those inaugurated were drawn from the Tipper and Quarry Unit.
He said, “Today I have come to inaugurate tipper drivers, tipper owners and beach owners in Ughelli North, precisely the granite, tipper and trailers stations respectively.
“This group do not belong to the National Union but it is registered under Trade Union Act cap 14, for Labour and productivity, in UTQEN, we are employer of labour unlike the trade union that are workers. “In every tipper, you will see six men, the driver, the conductor and four loaders who are employed by us as our workers.
“Members of UTQEN are law abiding citizens and it is my expectations that those inaugurated today in Ughelli North, will always not deviate and I expected them to be of good behavior to the public.
“We have been working in peace and harmony with the Delta State government revenue agency and as members of UTQEN we will continue to work in peace and harmony.
Speaking after their inauguration, Chairman of Tippers Union, Mr. Peace Ubini said, “With UTQEN we have peace unlike before when levies from the other unions will want to finish us without any responsibilities.
The Chairman of Quarry Union, Mr. Benjamin Omoba and members who spoke vowed to work in harmony to ensure that the new executive of UTQEN in Ughelli North is taken to a greater height.
While commending the inauguration of the new executive, Grand Patron of UTQEN, Olorogun Uteme Bateren said, “The birth of UTQEN is a welcome development in Ughelli North”
