THE leaders and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Uvwie Local Government Area Chapter, Delta State, has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and subsequently endorsed him for two-term till 2031 due to “His good performance and transformation of Delta State through his MORE Agenda”.
This was the fallout of the Town Hall meeting organized by the Office of the Senior Political Adviser to Governor of Delta State and the Uvwie Local Government Chapter of the PDP in Effurun.
Moving the two-legged motion, former member of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Gibson Akporehe said that: “We are supporting our governor for the good work he is doing not only in Uvwie but in the entire State. I, therefore, move that we are not only supporting him for now but also for second term, which will last till 2031. I so move”. The motion was seconded by the Leader of Uvwie Legislative Arm, Hon. Rire Okejera Uruesheyi.
Explaining the logic behind the vote of confidence, the political leader of Uvwie Local Government Area and Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Hon. Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata, explained to Journalists that the governor had done so well in less than two years.
While describing Governor Oborevwori as “Good Resources Manager”, who had enabled a lot of Deltans to realize their potentials by creating the necessary platforms for them through various form of empowerments”, he said that the governor is focused, detribalized and his developmental policies cut across the entire State.
The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni disclosed that it was not out place for Uvwie PDP to pass a vote of confidence on the governor, citing the award of contract to Julius Berger for the construction of Effurun/Warri Flyover Projects!
The Chairman of Uvwie Chapter of the PDP, Mr. Efe Okoled described the confidence vote on the as well-deserved and necessary as a result of his giant strides in Uvwie and the entire state. Earlier, the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Chief Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo explained that it was the objective of the party to work towards capturing not only Uvwie local government area but the entire Delta State come 2027.
