A lawyer and former Director General on Orientation in Delta State, Eugene Azuka Uzum, has called for participation in all state and federal youth-oriented initiatives.
Governments at all levels were also advised to intensify job creation to support the youth population. “Unemployment among the youth is a recipe for anarchy”, he said.
He also advised the 36 states to key into the Federal Government’s Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) initiative for the overall socio-economic development of their states.
According to him, it has become imperative for the states to create a dedicated student loan fund and set up job creation channels by providing financial assistance to youths and youth-owned enterprises in the state.
He maintained that unemployment, poverty and restiveness among youths could be reduced when they are gainfully engaged and motivated, adding that a state with peaceful youths has created the much-needed environment for socio-economic and political development.
