‘Wait For Your Turn’, Taju Declares Ahead Of LG Polls

The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Hon. Taju Isichei, has enjoined aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to “hold on for their own time to occupy offices in Oshimili South Local Government Area.”

Isichei gave “the admonition” during a campaign at Ward 5 Asaba,

He urged them to “understand that it is the turn of Hon. Kelvin Ezenyili to serve as the Local Government Council chairman, hence the need to be patient and trust God for their turn”, adding that the fact that they were not opportuned to occupy the positions they desire does not mean there would not be a second chance.

Highlighting the state government’s  welfare for non-indigenes, he urged them to come out massively to vote for the PDP and also encouraged them to support the party.

While thanking the leaders of the ward for their support towards the growth of the party, Isichei urged the campaign committee to be respectful, obedient and loyal to the ward chairman and not to be carried away, adding that their enlistment into the committee was to aid the smooth running of the electoral campaign.

He urged members of the ward to always identify with their leaders to benefit from the dividends of democracy.

The chairman of the ward, Ogbueshi Chinedu Nwaokolo said the decision to have non-indigenes contest and serve as councillors was to ensure that they were carried along in Oshimili South.

According to him, bringing youths to leadership positions at the local government level was in continuation of the agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who had always believed that it was ‘Youth O’clock’.

Speaking, the newly inaugurated Committee Chairman, Engr Akeem Lasisi said he would mobilize more persons to work with him to ensure that candidates of the party emerge victorious in the coming election.

Lasisi said he would ensure that there is no antiparty activity and that he would work with people of like minds.

The Immediate past councillor of Ward 5, Hon Chukwunweike Tolefe said he had no fear as every one of their members had their voters card, which he described as key towards opening the door to victory for the PDP in the forthcoming election.

In her words, the woman leader in the ward, Mrs Isioma Nwafejioku, said the Oduke community would deliver the PDP in the election, just as the Chairman of Oduke, Oji Ikechukwu, said he would canvass for votes for the PDP from the people of his community.

The highlight of the meeting was the inauguration of a committee to champion the political campaigns across the various units in the ward and the introduction of the two councillor candidates representing them at the local government.
