The Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Goronyo, who also doubles as the Minister Superintending FERMA, has said that Nigerians will be given the best in road maintenance and safety across Federal roads network.

Director (Information/ PR), revealed that the Minister made the statement during a familiarization tour to the Headquarters of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
In the words of the Minister, “Nigerians deserve the best experience in pleasurable ride and security from all forms of danger when using the road.”
He, however, bemoaned the poor budgetary allocation for roads maintenance in the country as factor militating against the realization of this dream.
According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given priority to infrastructure especially road infrastructure but poor budgetary provision occasioned by competing needs from all sectors and the state of the economy has made things difficult.
The Minister was in company of the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Adebiyi Olusesan Olufunso.
He expressed his level of comfort with the performance of the agency, stating his readiness to give all necessary support to ensure the presidential mandate is achieved in the road sector.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. Adebiyi Olusesan Olufunso, stressed that there has been some setbacks in the road sector, due inadequate funds and untimely releases.
He also noted that FERMA staff were highly committed to duties and the agency possesses some of the best staff in the civil service.
In his response, the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Emeka Agbasi, appreciated the Minister of State for his support and commitment to seeing that the Federal roads network is motorable all year round.
