Chairman and Founder of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), RETECH Foundation, Mr. Ronye Egborge, has said that the Foundation, together with its co-founder, EDP decided to commission a solar panel/water facility and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centers, equipped with modern computers and projectors in four schools, located in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State to create a conducive environment for students and teachers.
In particular, he said, the foundation considered it a necessity to provide the facilities, realizing the electricity and IT needs of the schools in a challenging Information Technology age for students and teachers.
In addition, he said the foundation felt there was the urgent need for it to contribute its own quota to the educational advancement of the State and the health of the students and teachers.
Among the projects executed and commissioned by the foundation are: a 27.6 watts solar installations, ICT rooms, fully furnished with equipped modern computers, projectors and latest gadgets, as well as solar powered water projects at the schools.
The schools are: Delta Secondary School, Dore Numa College, Ogedegbe Primary School and Essi College, school 1. Speaking during the commissioning of the facilities, Mr Egborge urge the schools to make good use of them. “We know our intervention will make your dreams of becoming STEM specialist much closer to reality,” he added.
He commended the State’s Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, and the schools for providing the enabling environment for the foundation to intervene in the schools.
“We will do more. Yes, we have started, but there is a lot more still to be done” he said, assuring that “we will not rest until we continue to do as much as we can for the students.”
On her part, the State’s Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu, represented by Mrs. Dora Asini, commended Retech foundation and EDP for the laudable projects in the various schools.
