THE wife of the Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Mrs. Rita Osilonya has feted children, cautioning them to shun acts capable of truncating their future.
Osilonya advised the company of the wives of some politicians in the area including the wife of the Commissioner for Primary Education, Mrs Esther Ashibuogwu and the wife of the Leader of Ndokwa East Legislative Arm, Mrs Ogiriki Franklin.
Others are the wife of the Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs Oyintareladoh Iyasele; wife of the Head of Personnel Management, Mrs Helen Enuekwe and wife of the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Ndokwa East Chapter, Mrs Henrietta Ajusah.
She said Christmas is a period of sacrifice and reflection for which Christians should emulate the virtues of sincere love and selfless service as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
While distributing Christmas gifts to the children during the party, the wife of the local government chairman emphasized that she held children and women in the area in high esteem, adding that children are the leaders of tomorrow.
She enjoined parents and guardians to always exhibit proper ethical standards and good moral orientation before the children and also inculcate sound moral values and attitudes in them. The member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi and the Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government, Chief Vincent Osilonya reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to pursuing more people-oriented policies and programmes.
Hon. Ezechi and Chief Osilonya assured that the year 2025 will usher in more progress, greater prosperity and enduring fulfilment for all.
Some of the beneficiaries of the Christmas gifts thanked the wife of the Council Chairman, Mrs Osilonya and the leadership of the council for the kind gesture and prayed God to bless and keep the organizers.
The Christmas party featured competitions and Bible recitations and prizes were given to the winners.
Present at the Christmas party were the Vice-Chairman of the Council, Mrs Cecilia Ekpo; Head of Personnel Management, Mr Nelson Enuekwe; Internal Auditor, Mrs Mabel Obi; Head of Department of Community Development, Mrs Josephine Chibuogwu; NULGE Secretary, Comrade Kenneth Opene, among others.
