FOLLOWING a bill sponsored by Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North Senatorial District for the creation of Anioma State, a group, the Anioma Women’s Movement has called for the speedy passage of the bill.
Speaking to The Pointer in Issele-Uku, leader of the movement, Mrs. Mary Ebeigbe said that the group had inaugurated the local government and ward coordinators to galvanise support on issues that will benefit Anioma people such as Senator Nwoko’s recent proposal. “Late Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof.) Chike Edozien encouraged me to join the forum and we struggled alongside Hon. Dan Okenyi, who acted as secretary of the movement, Col. Chijiuka (rtd) and many other patriotic Anioma sons and daughters.
Ebeigbe said it is out to promote equity, unity, fairness and justice, while encouraging the local government area and ward co-co-ordinators to disseminate the group’s ideals at the grassroots.
She said that the movement comprises women of Anioma extraction. She gave kudos to Senator Nwoko, adding that he has promised that the struggle will be achieved for the betterment of the Anioma people.
Ebeigbe called on the people of Anioma nation to embrace the agitation for the creation of the state as it would enhance their bonding as one indivisible people as well as their cultural heritage.
