Youth Chairman Urges Greater Unity In Okpanam

THE need for more concerted efforts in sustaining the peace and unity among youths and elders in order to enhance the overall development of Umu-Osume family, Obodogba quarters and Okpanam in general has been stressed.

The newly elected Youth Chairman of Umu-Osume family, Comr. Benjamin Onochie made the call in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State while speaking with newsmen after the election of Umu-Osume family youth’s executive members.

Comr. Onochie, who defeated his closest rivals including; Comr. Kadizue Eso with a total of 31 votes, described the emergence of the new executive as a new dawn for the unity of Umu-Osume family, and will promote equity, transparency and accountability.

Other elected members of the executive apart from the youth chairman included: Comrade Elijah Dunkwu (Vice Chairman/unopposed), Comr. Ekwudo Nzekwu (Secretary/ unopposed), Comrade Victor Dunkwu (Treasurer / unopposed), Comrade Friday Omunizua (Financial Secretary/unopposed), Comrade Michael Ijeh (Assistant Secretary/unopposed); Comrade Azuka Ujeze (Welfare Officer), Comrade Azubuike Nmuwunor (PRO/unopposed) and Comrade Zimuche Momah (Provost/unopposed).

Speaking further, Comr. Onochie restated his resolve to unite every son of Umu-Osume family, adding that when there was unity and peace in any society, there would be development.

He explained that his administration would interface with owners of any manufacturing companies within the community to employ some of their youth and engage others in skill acquisition programmes so as to make them self-reliant, especially now that there are no more lands to sell.

Comr. Onochie thanked Umu-Osume family youths for finding him worthy to serve as their chairman and assured that he would justify the confidence reposed in him by ensuring effective leadership and carry them along in the scheme of things.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Obodogba Youth, Comr. Chukwuma Abumujor, who’s EXCO conducted the election, has congratulated Comr. Benjamin Onochie and his executive members for their success in the election.
